Slow Readers Book Club

I've recently joined a group called the Slow Readers Book Club. The "slow" being in reference to the Slow Movement, which is based on the concept of slowing down the pace of life so that we take a bit more care and enjoyment in the things we do. It emphasizes a greater sense of togetherness as well as reflection in the things we do. With reading specifically, it calls for us to slow down and really enjoy a book, rather than cramming through it. As an avid reader as well as a subway commuter, I certainly understand the solace of escape that a book provides. However, I love the idea of slowing down and savoring the words and images that appear magically through the process of reading...

The first book is Jeannette Walls' Half-Broke Horses. If you're interested in joining, check out Diana's original post and shoot her an email. The first review will be March 4th. Happy slow reading!
