Rainy days

It's another rainy day here in NY (it's okay, it just means more flowers in spring!). Here are a few rainy day pictures taken by Saul Leiter, an American photographer from the 40's-50's. I love how painterly and dreamy they are..

No. 6 clogs

My love of clogs has been well documented here and here. They're comfortable. They're cute. And.. they give my 5'(almost)3" frame some much needed height. Here are a few more beauties to add to your spring/summer wish list from Little Italy's No. 6 store. sigh.....

Bang!

Just wanted to wish you all a happy weekend. Also, I decided that despite my fine wavy hair, it was time for a change. Bangs!!

Frida

Speaking of Mexico... one of my favorite artists is Frida Kahlo. I recently read The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver (one of my favorite authors), and it has re-sparked my interest in this amazing woman. Anyone know of a good biography about her? I'd love to learn more..

Tulum

For some of us in the NE, March is when the true cabin fever sets in. We've been cooped up for months and the initial charm of cozy days and nights by the fire crafting and drinking copious amounts of red wine begins to wear off. We want OUT! Luckily for us, this year we were able to plan an escape to the Mayan Riviera. Though we planned the trip months ago, it really couldn't have come at a better time. There is nothing quite like sitting on a beach under the warm sun with a light breeze kissing your skin and staring off into the vast horizon. For me, it is a return to the natural rhythms of the world. The purifying nature of floating effortlessly in turquoise waters.. the continuous crashing of the waves against the shore quiets my mind. In this stillness, a calm comes over me and with it comes peace. I am filled with an overwhelming sense that everything is going to be alright...

Hasta Luego..

We've had a vacation planned for a while now and it couldn't come at a better time. I'll be away for a while.. swimming, sunning and breathing in the fresh Mayan Riviera air. It is just what we need.... I promise to be back in the middle of next week with a Wallpaper Wednesday and other lovelies. Until then... xoxo

Nothing's Impossible

The Impossible Project shop is up and running!!! I just purchased 2 of these for my SX70- which has been sitting sad and lonely (though still beautiful as can be) for too long now...
I cant' wait to get them and try it out. In the meantime,  Blur Magazine (in collaboration with the Impossible Project) has launched a polaroid contest in honor of the return of the analogue film. Nothing has ever come close to replacing the dreamy quality of polaroids, so I'm incredibly grateful for this project and for the fact that it's apparently not so impossible after all! Here are a few pics from the contest..

Genius

I LOVE this versatile necklace created by Kathryn Blackmore. Depending on your mood, you can wear just the gold mesh chain on it's own or you can add on various form of decoration. Which one is your favorite?
the mesh necklace alone is clean and simple and would go with everything

I like the asymmetrical aspect with a mesh knot and 1 pom pom

you could really make a statement with 3 pom poms

Be sure to check out Kathryn's blog The Vamoose for more of her beautiful designs...
